 Care for your Tree
Care for your tree as you would a fresh bouquet of flowers. As soon as you get it home, make a fresh straight cut across the base of the trunk to remove at least ¼ inch of the trunk. Immediately place your tree in a water-holding stand, or if you are not ready to decorate it, place it in a bucket of water. Don’t ever let the base of the tree dry out as a seal will form and a new cut will be necessary so that the tree can take up moisture. A tree that is moist when brought into the home and is kept moist by adding water through the base of the trunk will not be a fire hazard. A  tree,  likes it cool and safe, so please don’t put your tree near your television set, fireplace or heat source. Let the tree remain outdoors or on a cool porch or patio until you are ready to decorate it.
