Abilene has many attractions to preserve the Old West including the Buffalo Gap Historic Village,  the Guitar Ranch - A working Texas cattle ranch, and the Myrtle Ranch - with its 4,500 acres of scenery for watching and hunting whitetail deer, elk or red deer.

But it also has something they probably didn't have back in the days of the Old West - Rainy Day Farms where they raise and sell llamas!

Abilene, Texas is also home to nearby Dyesss Air Force Base, the training center for B-1 bomber crews.

West Texas Music Hall of Fame is located in Abilene. It is an organization dedicated to preserving the great music history of the area including today's stars and the old pioneers.

With many, many churches in the area, Abilene is also a cornerstone of the "Bible Belt" running from Texas up into the midwest. It is also an important milestone along the Chisholm Trail, the famous trail where cowboys drove millions of longhorn cattle from Texas up to Abilene, Kansas, one of the first railroad terminals of the day.
